More information muokkaa evästeasetuksiaThe installation distance refers to the spacing between the light fixtures that provides optimal light output on the illuminated surface. In kitchen and other work lighting, the correct installation distance ensures sufficient light output on the worktop. When determining the installation distance, it is also taken into account that the light is distributed as evenly as possible over the illuminated surface.
The need for lighting is often noticed when autumn arrives and the amount of daylight decreases. Good lighting affects alertness, the functionality of work, and overall comfort. In poor lighting, symptoms of eye strain increase and well-being decreases.
When planning functional and pleasant work lighting, it is important to consider the correct illuminance level and the evenness of the light on the surface to be illuminated. With properly planned lighting, you achieve an even light on the worktop, whether the light source is a continuous profile or separate spots.
Remember to install the right light in the right place!
For every Limente light fixture, the optimal installation distance has been measured and is indicated in the technical specifications for the specific product. By installing the fixtures according to the recommended distance, you ensure that the illuminance level for the fixture is correct and that the entire worktop is properly illuminated. The amount of lux produced by profile fixtures can be seen in the fixture’s light diagram.
The diagrams below show the difference between spot and profile fixtures. When installed correctly, both provide evenly distributed and sufficient light on the work surface. For profile lights, this occurs automatically as long as the light output is sufficient, while for spots you must consider both the light output and the installation distance between the fixtures.

- The recommended illuminance level for worktops is 300–500 lux
- Achieving 500 lux with different light fixtures depends on the fixture’s luminous intensity and the beam angle
- When using the installation distances specified for Limente fixtures, the above values will be achieved. The light output of Limente continuous-profile fixtures is also sufficient to reach the recommended levels
- For point-like fixtures, the installation distances should generally be 60–80 cm
In the Limente catalogue, you can easily find the correct installation distance using the adjacent symbol.
